Period Correct Coupe

img_1104A daily driver. What would you look for in a daily driver? For most people it is just a car to get from point A to point B. Some people however, need something with a bit more style. Such was the case with Julian and his W124 Coupe (or C124 for that matter…). Having owned a VW Golf Mk3 convertible before, he knew he wanted something a bit more comfortable for his daily duties. He initially set out for an old BMW, but a friend convinced him of the merits of the C124.

He also wanted one that is not the usual black or silver, as most of these cars are. When he found this one in it’s rich Almandinrot color, he knew it was the one.

img_1112The period correct style is carried on in the interior as well with a 4-spoke wooden steering wheel made by Raid.

Julian actually was going to fully repaint the car and it was already dismantled at the painters when he stumbled upon his first love – the very Mk2 Golf he had sold a few years back was up for sale again and he quickly collected the Benz, put it back together with the old paint still on it and bought his old love back. The Benz is now just living it’s life as his daily while Julian has started to tinker with his old Mk2 again. I’m quite stoked to see where he takes it!
